A fresh encounter is underway between terrorists and security forces in Memander area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir.
An encounter broke out early Wednesday morning between terrorists and security forces. Three terrorists are involved in the ongoing encounter that began at 4:20 am.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Memander area of Shopian following information about presence of terrorists there, the officials said.
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire towards the security forces, who retaliated.
There have been no reports of any casualties in the operation so far.
This comes a day after Indian fighter jets struck a training camp of terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Five Indian soldiers injured
Meanwhile, 5 soldiers have been injured since Tuesday evening as Pakistan troops have been firing mortars and missiles from civilian houses using villagers as shields.
However, Indian Army targeted Pak posts away from civilian localities. In exchange of fire, 5 soldiers suffered minor injuries, of which 2 were taken to the military hospital and are stable.
Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation on Tuesday 6:30 pm onwards by shelling with heavy calibre weapons in 12-15 places along LoC.
Indian Army retaliated for effect and our focused fire resulted in severe destruction to Pakistans five posts and number of casualties to Pak Army, sources told ANI news agency.
Due to prevailing tense situation on Line of Control, all government and private schools located in 0-5km range from LoC in Rajouri district shall remain closed . Exams of classes 5,6&7 scheduled for Wednesday stand cancelled in all the schools of the district.
