In yet another encounter with terrorists in J&k, an Army officer and three soldiers were martyred in Pulwama late Sunday night. Those killed belong to the 55 Rashtriya Rifles.
The martyrs have been identified as Major VS Dhoundiyal, Havaldar Sheo Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh. A top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander linked to Pulwama attack is believed to be trapped in the ongoing encounter with security forces in Pulwama.
According to NDTV, a search operation was launched late Sunday night by army, police and CRPF personnel after a tip-off that terrorists were hiding in the Pinglan area.
Two or three terrorists are believed to be still hiding in the area.
A civilian was also reportedly killed in the encounter, the report quoted police sources.
In a major offensive, terrorists continue to challenge Indian security forces since February 14, when a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist drove his car close to a CRPF convoy of 78 buses on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. 40 CRPF had attained martyrdom.
The suicide bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, had joined the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad a year ago.
A day after the dastardly attack, Major Chitresh Singh Bisht was killed in an IED blast in Naushera in Rajouri sector.
