In what was earlier reported as killing of a policeman by the terrorists in Kashmir has now turned out to be a civilian.
The terrorists killed a civilian in Pulwama’s Pingleena village in South Kashmir on Wednesday, reports have confirmed.
DIG North Kashmir confirmed that the man killed by militants in the Pulwama village was a civilian.
Soon after the incident a joint team of army and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the killers.
However, there is no confirmation about the reason which led to the shooting of an innocent civilian.
Pulwama has been in the news after the terror attack on a CRPF convoy on February 14. A local Kashmiri rammed his explosive-laden SUV on a bus carrying CRPF jawans.
More than 40 jawans died in the attack.
The Indian Air Force (IAF), in retaliation, launched an attack on a Jaish-e-Mohammad camp across the Line of Control in Pakistan’s Balakot. Pakistan fighter jets, a day later, violated Indian airspace. In the aerial fight that ensued, Pakistan lost one F-16 fighter jet while India lost MiG-21 fighter jet.
IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was arrested by Pakistan. He, however, was released the next day.
