Six terrorists have been killed in an encounter at Sekipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district early Friday morning. Their arms and ammunition have been seized. Operation is still continuing.
“Six militants killed, weapons and warlike stores recovered. Operation in progress,” said an army spokesman. The identity of the slain militants was not immediately known.
“Bijbehara Encounter update: 06 militants eliminated in the encounter. Arms and Ammunition recovered. Identities are being ascertained,” police confirmed on Twitter.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 3RR and SOG Anantnag launched a cordon and search operation before dawn. There were inputs about the presence of militants in Sekipora. As soon as the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
Three days ago, four terrorists were shot dead in a fierce encounter at a village in Shopian district. A soldier was killed and three soldiers were also injured in the gun battle.
