A badly mutilated and highly decomposed body of the 9-year-old victim was found from Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla
The Hush Post: In an incident that puts the entire humanity to shame, a woman hatched a successful criminal conspiracy to get her 9-year-old stepdaughter gang-raped and murdered in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. Now, the stepmother along with eight other accused has been arrested.
A badly mutilated and highly decomposed body of the minor victim was found from the jungles of Baramulla’s Boniyar. The police have arrested nine accused persons including the stepmother of the victim, a report said.
The victim, a native of a village in Baramulla, had gone missing on August 24 and could not be traced. Her body was found on Sunday and it sparked protests in the area.
Imtiyaz Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Baramulla district reportedly said that after as police recorded the statement of victim’s father, it was found that he has two wives, one from a nearby village and another, who is a non-local and hails from Jharkhand. The victim was the latter’s daughter, the report said.
After victim’s highly decomposed body was found in a jungle, about 1 km from her home, an examination of the scene of crime and circumstances, made it seem murder and police proceeded accordingly, it was reported.
“During sustained questioning of the step-mother of the deceased and other suspects, a bone-chilling and horrible account of the rape and murder of the nine-year-old child came to be known,” SSP Imtiyaz Hussain was quoted as saying in the report.
The SSP reportedly said it was found that the accused stepmother had a long-standing grudge against her husband’s other wife and her kids, perceiving that her husband was more inclined and affectionate towards them, and during interrogation, also confessed that her husband spent most of the time with them and the girl was dearest of him among all his kids, the report said.
On August 24, accused woman, identified as Fahmeeda, wielding a knife, took the 9-year-old step-daughter to the nearby forest.
“While she was on way to forests with her step-daughter, she signalled her son, aged 14, to be ready. He, later on, joined his mother in the forest area, along with two of his friends – Kaiser Ahmad, aged 19 and another, aged 14 of Trikanjan Boniyar. Accused Naseer Ahmad Khan, 28 also joined them,” SSP Hussain was further quoted.
The girl was then allegedly gang-raped by the accused in the presence and at the instance of her stepmother, the SSP said.
“It was Kaiser who first raped her and then all others, including her step-brother, took turns to rape the girl. Thereafter the step-mother strangulated the girl and her step-brother hit her head with an axe, killing her on spot. After that, one of the accused went back to his home and brought acid. Then the girl’s eyes were gouged out and acid was sprinkled on her body. Physical condition and preliminary forensic analysis of dead body substantiated all these facts,” SSP Hussain was quoted as saying.
Two accused then dumped the girl’s body in the bushes and covered it with wild vegetation. “All the material and weapons including the axe and knife have been recovered at the instance of the accused,” the Baramulla top cop said.
