Jharkhand Police arrest the accused who are between 18 to 28 years
The Hush Post: The Jharkhand Police have arrested 11 persons on the charges of gang-raping two minor girls in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district.
The police said the accused were arrested in a raid conducted to nab them in the Hirhi Harra Toli area of the Lohargada district.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Kumar Mahli said that the accused are between the age group of 18 and 28 years. They had allegedly gang-raped the minor girls on August 16 when they were going to the Hirhi Harra Toli area along with their neighbour, a report said.
The victims were travelling on a motorcycle which developed a fault near the Hirhi Railway bridge, the report said.
The report said that one of the victims called up her friend over the phone for help but the friend sent his 11 friends to the spot instead. They took the girls to an isolated place, beat up their neighbour who got scared and ran away.
Then all the accused took turns to rape the girls. The accused also snatched away mobile phones of the minor girls, it was reported.
An FIR was lodged Sadar police station on the victims’ complaint.
A task force was constituted on the directions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Priyadarshi Alok to probe the matter. The task force was headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Arvind Kumar Verma and Mahli. The police have also recovered the victims’ cellphones from the house of one of the accused, the report said.
