The Hush Post: Sixteen-year-old girl was first raped and a day later burnt to death. She was burnt in front of her family members inside her home in Jharkhand on Friday, allegedly by the same men who had gang-raped her a day before on Thursday night.
According to vernacular media reports, four youths had kidnapped the girl from her house on Thursday night. At that time the remaining members of the family had gone to attend a wedding. They took her to an abandoned place and gang-raped her.
The incident took place at Rajakendua village in Naxal-hit Chatra district, about 160 km from Ranchi.
The girl’s family made a hue and cry about the issue in the panchayat on Friday morning. The panchayat, or village council in turn did not report the case to the cops. Instead, they asked the accused to pay the girl’s family Rs 50,000 and rest the matter for good. Apart from it, they were also tasked to perform 100 squats.
Enraged by it, the four accused later went to the victim’s house, where they first thrashed the family members and then set the girl on fire, the parents of the victim said.
The accused are now on the run and cops have launched a massive manhunt to arrest the accused.
The brutal gang-rape and murder comes during a time when public is enraged about the failure of the government.
