The Hush Post: Hailing the Indian astronaut Kalpana Chawla for her space exploration, United States President Donald Trump termed her as an American hero. Trump has hailed Chawla for her work and contribution towards space exploration and said that the astronaut is an inspiration to many girls across the world, The TeCake reported on Saturday.
Trump reportedly said, “Indian American Kalpana Chawla was the first woman of Indian descent to fly in space, and became an American hero for her devotion to the Space Shuttle program and its various missions transporting cargo and crew to and from the International Space Station.”
Kalpana was the first Indian-American to fly to Space and was always hailed for her dedication to the space shuttle programme. In 2003, Kalpana Chawla died in a Space Shuttle disaster during her return journey from space. Although her death shocked the whole world, her achievements kept on inspiring many people across the globe.
President Trump recently issued a proclamation declaring May as the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. After the declaration, Trump highlighted the vital contribution that astronaut Kalpana Chawla had made towards the space programme and called her the American hero. The US President said, “Ms. Chawla’s courage and passion continue to serve as an inspiration for millions of American girls who dream of one-day becoming astronauts.”
Trump reportedly said, “Through their industriousness and love of country, our nation has enjoyed the privileges and enrichment of multiple innovations and societal advancements.”
The US President further said that America is a country that strongly values hard work, an honest living and a commitment to the ideals of life and for these reasons, America cherishes its connections with the Indo-Pacific region, which shares an appreciation for these principles.
