The Hush Post: The first look of Kangana Ranaut’s highly anticipated film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ was released by the makers on August 15. The poster shows Ranaut in her fierce warrior queen avatar, wielding a blood-soaked sword with her young son strapped to her back.
Initially slated for a November 29 release, the film which has been produced by Zee Studios and directed by Krrish, will now hit cinemas on January 25, 2019.
The film will clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Super 30’ based on Patna-based mathematician Anand Kumar.
The upcoming period drama will focus on Rani Laxmibai’s fight against the British in her kingdom Jhansi and in other kingdoms as well. She had got to know the ulterior motives of the British who wanted to divide and rule by using its various divisive policies like subsidiary alliance, doctrine of lapse, etc.
Apart from Kangana, Manikarnika’s supporting cast includes Jisshu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Sonu Sood who will play Sadashiv Narayan Rao and Atul Kulkarni who will be seen as Ramachandra Pandurang Tope, popularly known as Tatya Tope. Television actress Ankita Lokhande makes her debut on the big screen as Jhalkari Bai in the film.
According to the press release by the makers, the movie celebrates the Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmi Bai’s strength, passion, and courage.
Director Krish is also helming the highly-anticipated NTR biopic. It has been produced by Zee Studios, Kamal Jain, and Nishant Pitti with a screenplay by K V Vijayendra Prasad, who is known for penning the scripts of Baahubali: The Beginning, Mersal, and Baahubali 2.
Apart from Manikarnika, Ranaut will also be seen in an upcoming tragic-comedy ‘Mental Hai Kya’ opposite Rajkummar Rao.
