E-commerce giant Walmart, which owns Flipkart, and has now also merged e-commerce portals Jabong with Myntra, has announced a lay-off at Jabong. About 150 people will get the pink slip at Jabong, according to a news report in a national daily.
“Over the next several days, your leaders will reach out to you about the changes and how they affect you,”a Walmart mail to its employees read.
All the operations of Jabong and Myntra including technology, revenue, finance, marketing and creative teams will work as one unit. However, Jabong will continue as a separate brand for now.
Myntra and Jabong businesses will be under Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamoorthy.
Myntra CEO Ananth Narayanan has been asked to report to Krishnamoorthy.
Jabong operates from Bengaluru. It started work from Gurgaon, but when Myntra bought it in 2016, senior executives shuttled between Bengaluru and Gurgaon.
