A fire broke out at a car parking area on Saturday afternoon near the venue where Aero India 2019 is being conducted in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka Air Force Station.

Media reports have said that around 80-100 cars were gutted in the incident.

Vehicles went up in flames near Gate 5 of AeroIndia show. The fire started near the AFS Yelahanka Gurudwara near Bharati Nagar Gate.

According to a policeman, one car caught fire which then spread to around 50-60 cars around it resulting in a cauldron of smoke and fire.

People near the gate could hear loud explosions due to the bursting of tyres and exploding fuel tanks. Initial estimates by the police and other officials put the damage at around 80 cars destroyed. This includes both partial and complete destruction.

The owners of the vehicles were at the show. The police were seen trying to move the vehicles with the help of tow trucks.

Ambulances stationed at the site attended to people suffering from smoke inhalation. They were soon rushed to nearby hospitals. No casualities have been reported.
