According to a policeman, one car caught fire which then spread to around 50-60 cars around it resulting in a cauldron of smoke and fire.
People near the gate could hear loud explosions due to the bursting of tyres and exploding fuel tanks. Initial estimates by the police and other officials put the damage at around 80 cars destroyed. This includes both partial and complete destruction.
The owners of the vehicles were at the show. The police were seen trying to move the vehicles with the help of tow trucks.
