The techie alleged that the police did not lodge an FIR despite his complaint

The Hush Post: A senior police officer from Bengaluru Rural is in the dock after his video surfaced on Sunday which shows him in a compromising position with a married woman, who is the wife of a software engineer.

After the software professional lodged a complaint, the police in Koramangala took up a non-cognizable case under Section 497 (adultery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are likely to seek the permission of the court to initiate legal action, a report said.

But, the software engineer’s wife has come forward and alleged that she was not happy with her husband and was living separately for the last few months. The woman is reported to be thinking of filing a case against her husband, it was reported.

The software engineer on Sunday submitted a video clip of the officer in uniform in a compromising position with his wife. The Davangere-based software professional said that he approached the police on Thursday. He alleged that despite meeting DG&IGP Neelamani Raju and other top officers he was not given a fair hearing. On Monday, the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court was to hear the case. Before going to the media, the techie alleged that the police did not register a case on the basis on his complaint, the report said.

The techie told the media persons that he had got married in 2010, and shifted to the US along with his wife.

The couple stayed in the US for two years before coming back to India and settling down in Davangere. The techie’s wife was reportedly looking after a graphic designing studio when she met the police officer in 2017. The cop was at the studio for the photoshoot of his twin daughters, the report said.

“Soon after, the police officer and my wife began an affair. Initially, I didn’t know about their clandestine meetings, which occurred regularly at his office and at a coffee shop. After I found out, I warned my wife and she stopped meeting the officer,” the software engineer was quoted as saying in the report.

The software engineer said that the two started meeting again without his knowledge. They even booked a resort in Davangere. The affair came to light when the techie came across a video on his wife’s phone which showed the officer kissing his wife. The techie further alleged that when he confronted the cop, the latter threatened him with an encounter killing, the report said.

Till Sunday, no case, but only a non cognizable report had been registered at the Koramangala police station it was reported.
