CCD owner’s father dies unaware that his son is no more

Café Coffee Day (CCD) founder VG Siddhartha’s father Gangaiah Hegde passed away on Sunday, unaware of the fact that his son is no more. 96-year-old Hegde was in a coma. He was admitted to the Gopalagowda hospital in Mysuru about a month ago after suffering from old-age-related health issues.

VG Siddhartha’s was found dead on July 31, two days after he had gone missing. His body was recovered from the Netravati river. The CCD founder had last visited his father in hospital few days prior to have gone missing. Siddhartha’s cousins say the the businessman had broken down looking at his father’s deteriorating health.

As VG Siddhartha’s body was found, his ailing father didn’t know that his son was no more.  Hegde had started slipping into coma around this time.

Hailing from Chikmagluru district, Gangaiah Hegde was a wealthy coffee planter. He was highly revered and known for his discipline, benevolence and ‘no-nonsense’ attitude.

Hedge’s body will be transported from Mysuru to Chikkamangaluru where his mortal remains will be kept at the Chetanahalli estate, the same place where his son was cremated.
