A dialogue in Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar’s upcoming movie Pati Patni Aur Who has created a furore. Seeing the outrage, the movie makers have decided to remove the controversial joke from the film. Even Bhumi Pednekar has apologized for the dialogue. The film has, besides Kartik and Bhumi, Ananya Pandey in the lead role.
The trailer of Pati Panti Aur Woh has a dialogue that seems to make light of a serious issue like marital rape.
In the trailer, Kartik, who plays Chintu Tyagi, rants about his sex-starved life with his friend, played by Aparshakti Khurrana. Kartik berates in the video, “Biwi se sex maang lein toh hum bikhaari. Biwi ko sex na de toh hum atyachaari. Aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke usse sex haasil kar lena toh balaatkari bhi hum hai”.
However, the humour has not go down well with the audience and has drawn severe criticism on social media. Some are even wondering if the film is stooping low enough to joke about marital rape.
Responding the criticism, Bhumi said in a interview with Zoom, “If we have hurt anybody’s sentiments, we are sorry, because that wasn’t the intention. But everybody who is involved in Pati Patni Aur Woh, does not belong to that school, does not belong to that thought process”.
Notably, Kartik Aaryan’s monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchnaama was a hit and the makers thought of doing another one this time. But in doing so they got carried away.
Pati, Patni Aur Woh is an adaptation of the 1978 hit starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur. The movie is directed by Mudassar and is supposed to be a humorous take on infidelity. The film is expected to release on December 6, 2019.
