Before appear in the test, some girl students were told to remove their bras as the innerwear contained metal hook
The Hush Post: In a shocking incident in Kerala, some girl students were told to remove their brassieres before writing NEET-2018 exam. These girls were told to remove their bras as the innerwear contained metal hook. They were allowed to wear their upper clothes without the inner wears.
The matter did not stop there, an observer started staring “inappropriately” at the breast of a girl much to her discomfort. Feeling embarrassed and shamed by his stare, the victim has lodged a complaint against the observer. On the basis of this complaint, the police have registered an FIR against the observer on the charges of eve teasing by word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman (Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)), and have started investigating the matter, Live Mint reported on Friday.
The incident occurred on May 6 from Palakkad in Kerala where some girls were told to remove their innerwear before appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). One of these girls reported the matter to the police accusing an external observer of staring at her ‘inappropriately’, the report said.
On her complaint, an FIR has been registered and probe has started, the police said.
The Live Mint report said the victim student who appeared for the NEET conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at the Lion’s school at Koppa in Palakkad, had to remove her brassieres along with some other girls as it contained metal hook before writing the test.
As per the complainant, she was not comfortable writing the examination as a male external observer kept staring at her ‘inappropriately’, the report said.
“The invigilator came and stood before her several times. He did not look at her face but at her chest. She tried to cover herself with the question paper,” victim’s sister reportedly told television channels.
“My sister was mentally tense. The invigilator came near her two to three times. She found it difficult to write the exam properly, she was uncomfortable,” victim’s sister said.
The police have started investigating the matter and are trying to talk to students who had also appeared for the test in the same school. “We are trying to speak to more witnesses who appeared for the test in the school. We are trying to get the list of other students who wrote the test in this school,” the police reportedly said.
On the other hand, Tarun Kumar, CBSE’s regional officer reportedly said that they had not received any complaint in this regard till now.
About the police complaint, he said, “We are enquiring and a report is expected by next week.” Last year, a controversy had erupted after a girl student from Kannur complained that she was forced to remove her inner wear to write the test.
