The Hush Post: A priest from Kerala has been arrested on Monday morning for issuing a death threat to President Ram Nath Kovind. On Sunday night, the accused Jayaraman, who is a priest at the Chirakal Bhagavathy temple was in an inebriated state called up the police control room and threatened to plant a bomb at St Thomas College, where the President is scheduled to attend a function.
The District Police Chief of Thrissur said, “The accused, Jayaraman, was picked up after his mobile phone was tracked down.”
During interrogation, the priest admitted that he did it under the influence of alcohol.”
A case was registered against him for criminal extortion.
The president, who is on a three-day visit to Kerala, arrived in the state capital yesterday.
Kovind will inaugurate a function at the assembly complex in Thiruvananthapuram to conclude the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Legislative Assembly today.
On Tuesday, the president will have breakfast with the judges and chief justice of the Kerala High Court at Kochi.
On August 8, before returning to Delhi, he will offer prayers at Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple.
