Missionaries of Jesus first hands out the victim’s photo to the media, then claims they were not responsible if someone published it
The Hush Post: Missionaries of Jesus has released photo of the nun who has accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal of rape.
On Friday, the Missionaries released the rape victim’s photo to the media along with a statement, a report said.
The 44-year-old nun had accused Jalandhar diocese Bishop Franco Mulakkal of raping her many times.
The photo shows the victim with Bishop Mulakkal. The photo is of a private function that dates back to May 23, 2015. After giving the photo to media attaching it with the statement, the congregation conveniently washed its hands off the responsibility.
The last line of Missionaries’ statement reads that the photo is just for evidence. The Missionaries said that it would not be responsible if someone publishes it and it becomes public.
The Missionaries of Jesus said the photograph is of a day after the first incident of alleged rape took place. As the nun is seen sitting with the bishop it proves that he had not sexually assaulted her previous day.
The statement reads: “The Missionaries of Jesus has understood that the allegations about the Bishop repeatedly raping the nun multiple times between 2014 and 2016 is false and is part of a conspiracy.”
Notably, the law says that revealing the identity of a rape victim is an offence by itself. It is punishable with imprisonment and a fine imposed by the court.
