25-year-old Iraqi woman gives birth to septuplets; six girls, one boy

A 25-year-old woman has given birth to seven children at a hospital in Iraq, making headlines. The septuplets include six girls and a boy. The identity of the woman is still unknown.

The woman had a normal delivery at al-Batoul Hospital in Eastern Iraq’s Diyala province. The newborns and the mother are said to be in perfect health. It is for the first time in Iraq that a woman has given birth to septuplets.

The family already has 3 kids and now the number of children has increased to 10. Yousuf Faidal, the father of the kids is worried as he says he had never planned for this many kids.

Earlier, a woman in Lebanon’s St. George University Hospital had given birth to sextuplets. She had delivered 3 girls and 3 boys.

It is to be noted that the McCaughey septuplets are the world’s first set of surviving septuplets. They were born to Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The septuplets, four boys and three girls, were born nine weeks prematurely on November 19, 1997. They were born by Caesarean section, all within six minutes.
