The Hush Post: A 54-year-old woman from Indonesia was swallowed alive by a giant python. The woman’s body was found after cutting open the belly of python after the over swollen reptile was caught near where the woman had disappeared while tending her garden, a report said on Saturday.
The villagers had to cut the seven-metre-long python to retrieve the body Wa Tiba (54) on Friday. The giant python was found bloated in Persiapan Lawela village on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi, the report said.
“Residents were suspicious the snake swallowed the victim, so they killed it, then carried it out of the garden. The snake’s belly was cut open and the body of the victim was found inside,” local police officer Hamka was quoted as saying.
About 100 residents, including worried relatives, had started searching for Wa Tiba when she did not return from her garden on Thursday night, the report said.
The police officer said that the villagers found the giant serpent lying about 30 metres from Tiba’s sandals and machete. He added she was swallowed head first and her body was found intact, it was reported.
The garden in which she disappeared was at the base of a rocky cliff, pockmarked by caves, and known to be home to snakes, Hamka added.
Giant pythons, which regularly top six metres, are commonly found in Indonesia and the Philippines. While the serpents have been known to attack small animals, attempts to eat people are rare, it was reported.
In March 2017, a farmer was killed by a python in the village of Salubiro on Sulawesi island, the report said.
