The Hush Post: A woman was choked to death in Minneapolis after eating the cake in which her fiancé had hidden a costly ring to propose to her for the wedding.

The man from St-Paul in Minnesota wanted to surprise his fiancée with a unique wedding proposal and under this plan, he had hidden a costly ring worth $65,000 in a chocolate cake. The woman accidentally died after she choked on the costly ring after eating the cake, a report said.

The victim was a 27-year-old woman Melissa James and her fiancé is 29-year-old Martin Finn from St-Paul in Minnesota.

Martin Finn had decided to propose Melissa James during a dinner at the Panera Bread restaurant in Minneapolis. And, under this plan, he hid the wedding ring he’d purchased for her in her chocolate cake, the report said.

Unluckily, the woman swallowed the ring before she noticed it and immediately began coughing and choking.

Paramedics were immediately called for and witnesses attempted reanimation techniques on her until the ambulance arrived, but the young woman could not be saved, it was reported.

Martin Finn was later arrested and accused of involuntary manslaughter. Finn now faces a maximum of 25 years in jail if he is found guilty.

Lieutenant Francis Craig of the Minneapolis Police Department described the accused as “a victim of his own stupidity”.

“What idiot would hide a ring in a chocolate cake? That little smartass tried to pull a girly romantic move because he didn’t have the balls to propose like a real man, and now he killed his girlfriend,” Lieutenant Francis Craig was quoted in the report.

Lieutenant Francis Craig reportedly said that hiding objects in other people’s food without their consent is illegal in the United States and can lead to very serious criminal accusations.

Melissa James is the third woman to die in this manner in the US as the consequence of a “stupid” wedding proposal.

Earlier in May this year, a woman died after falling from a 23-story building in Chicago only seconds after being proposed. Chicago police concluded to a death by suicide in this case, it was reported.

In July too, a woman died of a heart attack in California after her boyfriend decided to complement his proposal with some surprise fireworks. No criminal charges had been filed in that case also, the report said.
