Pakistani Christian meets Pope talks about ill-treatment of Christians in Pak

The Hush Post: A Pakistani Christian Daniel Bashir recently met the Pope and spoke about the ill-treatment meted out to Christians in Pakistan.

The neuro-surgeon from Karachi says, he intends to become a priest be where his heart is, which is to be in the church most of the time.

“I will join the seminary in June,” Bashir has said.

He recently took a selfie with the Pope at a youth conference at the Vatican which has gone viral.

Bashir presented Pope Francis an ajrak shawl, a traditional garment from Karachi. Later the two took a picture in which the pontiff has the gift draped around himself.
On the Facebook, he mentioned,”My heart is full of happiness.”

The two spoke about the treatment meted out to religious minorities in Pakistan. Muslims here comprise 90 percent of the total population.

Christians are an estimated two percent of Pakistan’s more than 20 crore people, and have faced persecution or sidelined into low paid jobs.

Recently, four Christians were killed in an attack claimed by the ISIS in Quetta a day after Easter. Also an ISIS suicide bombing at a church, days before Christmas last year killed eight.
