All 28 members of Ocampo’s municipal police department in the wetern Mexican state of Michoacan have been taken in for questioning by the police’s internal affairs department.

According to media reports, all 28 members of Ocampo’s municipal police department in the wetern Mexican state of Michoacan have been taken in for questioning by the police’s internal affairs department.
Fernando Angles Fernando Angeles Juarez of the Party of the Democratic Revolution was killed Thursday morning by unknown gunmen. He was 64.
Accused police officers had fired in air to resist state police
On Saturday, Michoacán State Police had gone to Ocampo to question 28 municipal officers in a routine check unrelated to Juárez’s death. However they were greeted with gun shots in the air by some of those officers, resisting their authority. Consequently, the State Police on Sunday again reached Ocampo, this time with a higher number of police personnel.
Ocampo’s security secretary Oscar Gonzalez Garcia has been made the main accused in the case. He, along with his 27 accomplice police officers, was detained on Sunday. The officers were handcuffed and were brought to the capital for further questioning.
Mexico goes to poll on July 1
Recently, more than a 100 political murders have taken place in Mexico which goes to polls to elect the President, the parliamentarians and Mayors on July 1.
Angles is the third such aspiring politician in Michoacan who has been assassinated during the last one week.
He was a successful businessman and carried weigh in Ocampo politics, reported the BBC.
