The Hush Post: Interpol chief Meng Hongwei has gone missing. Whereabouts of the 64-year-old international police organization’s chief are not known since he was last seen in September-end. The French police have launched investigations after Meng’s wife reported that he had gone missing. Interpol Headquarters are in Lyon, France.

According to his wife, Meng had travelled to China during last week of September but hasn’t shown up since then.  He had left France on September 29.

Meanwhile, the Interpol said in a statement that it was aware of reports in connection with Meng’s “alleged disappearance”.  “This is a matter for the relevant authorities in both France and China,” the agency said.

The statement also said that it was the secretary general and not the president who is responsible for the Interpol’s daily operations.

Meng was named the president of Interpol in November 2016. Before this, he served as a vice-minister in China’s Ministry of Public Security. He has almost 40 years’ experience in criminal justice and policing.  He is the first Chinese citizen to head the Interpol.
