In a dramatic incident, a toddler fell off a sixth-floor and was luckily saved by quick-thinking onlookers. The incident took place in Chongquing, located in the southwest part of China on Monday afternoon. The incident was captured on video by some onlookers.
The 3-year-old toddler was clinging to the balcony edge of the sixth-floor apartment as onlookers gathered under the building. Without wasting any time the onlookers grabbed a blanket and formed a circle with it underneath the toddler.
“I looked up and saw a little child was dangling up there. My first reaction was to find something to catch him,” said one of the onlookers who save the kid. “I thought about rushing over there and catch him with my bare hands, but that would not have worked,” he added.
Ten seconds later, the toddler fell of the balcony and landed safely on the blanket.
“I held out the blanket along with others all the while keeping my eyes on the child,” another person who saved the child said. “I looked at the blanket wondering whether we could catch him safely. My only thought was to keep him safe.”
The three-year-old was transported to an area hospital, but sustained no injuries. Police have said the boy was left alone in the apartment while his grandmother went grocery shopping.
