The members of FICCI Flo Literary Circle, Ludhiana, hosted Nalini Priyadarshni, a local poet, as the Guest of Honour at Garden Café on May 14.
Nish Amaranth, an American journalist, social justice advocate, and author launched the Literary club in January 2019. The book club has been active in bringing prominent authors and writers from the literary world to the city.
The FICCI Flo Literary Circle is mentored by Monica Chaudhry who is also its national governing body head. Nandita Bhasker, Chairperson FICCI Flo and Radhika Gupta, Vice-chairperson, took this initiative to keep city book lovers engrossed in literary pursuits.
However, Pooja Chopra has been instrumental in giving wings to the literacy circle by coordinating the club activities.
The members also had the privilege of interacting with Minal Arora, serenity surrender (SS) therapist, mentor, and author. She attended one of the previous sessions of the Literary Circle. Reena Kaushal and Rajita Goel organized and hosted the meeting for the month of May.
The meeting started with discussing books ‘Princess’ by Jean Sasson and ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck’ by Mark Manson. Members of the club expressed their opinions and offered new insights.
Afterward, Nalini Priyadarshi read a few poems from her books ‘Lines Across Oceans’ and ‘Doppelganger in My House’ that reverberated through the minds and moods of the book lovers.
Various members of the club interacted with the guest poet in their question-answer session, bouncing off ideas and queries turning it into a memorable experience. Personalised bookmarks that truly are any book lovers treasure were given as gifts by the hosts in the end.
ABOUT THE GUEST AUTHOR
The guest author this month, Priyadarshni is a Ludhiana-based poet, writer, translator, and educationist. She has authored Doppelganger in My House and co-authored Lines Across Oceans with Poet Laureate D. Russel Micnhimer.
Her writings have appeared in numerous literary journals, podcasts, and international anthologies. Also, her poems are a part of ananthology to be published by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi later this year featuring doyens of Indian poets writing in English.
Moreover, her writing appeared in numerous literary journals, podcasts, and international anthologies. She teaches English literature at Sat Paul Mittal School.
