Subcompact SUV segment is one of the hottest segment in the country and there’s going to be a new and highly awaited entrant in the segment. Hyundai has unveiled their first subcompact SUV, the Hyundai Venue. The Hyundai Venue will be up against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and the Mahindra XUV300. However, the SUV will be officially launched in India on May 21, 2019.
Further, Hyundai Venue will be available in two petrol engine options and one diesel engine option. One of the petrol variant is 1.0-litre, direct-injection turbocharged Kappa engine that produces 120 bhp and 172Nm of torque. It will debut in India for the first time in any Hyundai car. The other petrol engine will be the same that powers Hyundai i20 and produce 83 bhp and 115Nm of torque.
For the diesel variant, Hyundai Venue will sport the same 1.4-litre, engine that is in Hyundai Verna and Creta. This engine will churn out 90 bhp and 220Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. The top end variant of Hyundai Venue comes with connect feature and is equipped with some segment-first features. Some of them are 8.4-inch HD display screen, Arkamys sound system, wireless charging, air purifier, eco-coating, wheel air curtains and an Indian-accented English voice assist system.
It is also equipped with an in-built e-SIM card, for which Hyundai will provide free data up to the warranty period of the car. Further after the warranty period is over, owners can recharge the SIM with regular data packs.
The pricing of Venue will be a key factor as already this segment is in a fierce contest. We expect the price to be between 8-12 lakh (Ex-Showroom).
