With the re-launch of Jawa in India, the company had provided Indian bikers with a worthy alternate to the legendary Royal Enfield which currently dominates the 300-500 cc category. The loyal Jawa fans are delighted and the Yezdi Jawa clubs who hardly got any attention in the past are now once again in limelight with the launch of Jawa motorcycles.
The company had launched the motorcycle with top notch specifications as it knew whom they are up against. Also, looking at the styling of all the models (Jawa, Jawa Forty Two and Perak) and the specifications they sport, it’s clear that Jawa means business. They’re all ready and prepared to take on the iconic Royal Enfield. Once again, it will be a clash between the old rivals, The Royal Enfield and The Jawa.
Jawa comes with an engine that is superior than Royal Enfield’s 350cc engine and the company has maintained the retro look. Both these factors make Jawa a definite threat to Royal Enfield. But there are two important factors that Jawa needs to look into seriously and quickly if they want to compete with Royal Enfield.
1. Dealership Network
Royal Enfield has a dealership network that no other motorcycle manufacturer in the country can match. First and foremost, Jawa needs to expand its dealership network quickly to cash on the excellent initial response that they got from their customers. The company had announced that they’ll be starting with 105 dealerships. However, Royal Enfield has 840 plus dealerships across the country which is not easy to match.
2. Repair and availability of spare parts
Due to its vast dealership network, Royal Enfield is able to provide easy repair and spare availability to its customers. This is also a major factor that helps the company sell a huge number of motorcycles. Above all, Royal Enfield spares are even available with small mechanics across the country. Jawa needs to work on this very quickly and to make sure the spares are available not only to their dealers, but also at small repair shops across the country.
The emerging competition between the two iconic and legendary brands will be quite beneficial for riders. It’s been a long time since anyone had actually challenged the supremacy of Royal Enfield. Let’s wait and watch what unfolds in the coming months. With Royal Enfield planning some new models that may sport their new 650 cc engine, the motor-biking scenario in India is going to get very exciting in coming months.
