The Range Rover family has announced the launch of ‘Range Rover Velar’ the first of its kind and its fourth model. It is available in three powertrain options – 2.0 l (litre) diesel, 2.0 l (litre) petrol and 3.0 l (litre) diesel. Vehicle deliveries start with immediate effect with prices beginning from Rs78.83 lakh (ex-showroom).
It has flush deployable door handles and integrated rear spoiler for improved aerodynamic efficiency. At the rear, the vehicle’s design is distinguished by quad tail light signature elements with the iconic Range Rover script. For easy control of in-car infotainment the touchpro duo technology has been used with two seamlessly integrated 25.4 cm (10) touchscreens.
The centrepiece combines a rake-adjustable upper touchscreen with a second screen in the main console between the seats, which retreats to a solid, opaque darkness until required. Velar’s efficient, torque-on-demand all-wheel-drive (AWD) system delivers exceptional all-terrain performance. With a suite of world-class traction systems, including Terrain Response 2 and All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Velar offers class-leading composure and control. Land Rover vehicles are available in India through 26 authorised outlets, in the north it is available in Chandigarh, Delhi, Ludhiana, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Karnal, Noid and Lucknow.
Derived from the Latin word Velare meaning ‘to cover’ or ‘veil’, Velar is a direct reference to the code name used on the original, pre-production Range Rovers of the late 1960s.
Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said, “The Velar will further strengthen Land Rover’s position in the overall Luxury SUV market in India.” The Range Rover Velar is placed between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport.
