A man in Madhya Pradesh took Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poll speech a bit too seriously, and it has landed him into serious trouble. The incident has been reported from Alampur branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Bhind district. A man lost his hard-earned money thanks to a strange goof-up by the bank authorities. The victim kept on depositing money in his bank account while another man kept on withdrawing the money thinking PM Modi was sending him the money.
Hukum Singh or Rurui village and another Hukum Singh of Roni village had opened a bank account in SBI’s Alampur branch. The banker made a silly mistake and issued both the Hukum’s passbooks having same bank account and address but different photographs.
Rurui’s Hukum Singh left for Haryana to earn a living after opening the bank account. From there he started depositing saved money into the bank account. Back in Alampur, Roni village’s Hukum Singh regularly kept on withdrawing the money and that too for six months. Roni’s Hukum Singh withdrew a total of Rs 89 thousand from the bank account.
The blunder came to light when Rurui’s Hukum Singh decided to buy a land. He landed at the bank branch on October 16 only to find that only Rs 35,400 were left in the bank. Till that time he had deposited Rs 1.40 lakh in the account.

While bank officials are trying to hush up the matter, Roni’s Hukum Singh maintains that the money was his. “It was my account. Money was deposited in it. I thought Modi Ji was sending money so I withdrew it”, said Roni’s Hukum Singh. He has held the bank officials responsible for the blunder.
Meanwhile, Alampur SBI Bank Manger Rajesh Sonkar has said that the Rurui’s Hukum Singh will get back his money.
