Uma Bharti’s nephew booked after SUV mows down 2 motorcylce-borne persons

Madhya Pradesh Police have booked former Union minister Uma Bharti’s nephew Rahul Singh Lodhi for causing death by negligence. A SUV allegedly driven by Lodhi had collided with a motorcycle in Tikamgarh district on Monday, killing two persons. One person was injured in the incident and is undergoing treatmen in Jhansi, UP.

The incident occurred occurred around 3 pm on Tikamgarh-Chhatarpur road near Papawani village, around 15 kms from the district headquarters. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.

The accident spot falls under the Baldevgarh police station. MP Police registered an FIR against Lodhi on complaint of the family members of the deceased.

Police have booked Lodhi under Sections 304-A, 279 and 337 of the IPC and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police say initial investigations reveal Lodhi was driving the vehicle.

LODHI DENIES CHARGES

Rahul Singh Lodhi is an MLA from Khargapur Assembly seat in Tikamgarh. He has claimed that his vehicle was not involved in the mishap. Lodhi said he was at a village 20 km away from the accident spot.

“My driver informed me about the accident which involved other vehicles, and I alerted the local police station,” said Lodhi.
