Legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar has lent her voice to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poem “Saugandh Mujhe is Mitti Ki”. The prime minister had recently read out the poem during one of his public addresses. The BJP is using this poem as the election campaign song.
89-year-old Lata Mangeshkar has credited one of PM Modi’s speeches as the inspiration behind the song. In a brief introduction to the song the veteran singer said she was inspired by PM Modi’s poem. She has crooned “Saugandh Mujhe is Mitti Ki” in her melodious voice, and uploaded the video on Twitter.

She has dedicated the video to Indian soldiers.

Saugandh Mujhe Mitti Ki,
Main Desh Nahi Mitne Dunga,
Main Desh Nahi Rukne Dunga,
Main Desh Nahi Jhukne Dunga;
Mera vachan hai Bharat Maa Ko,
Tera Sheesh Jhukne Nahi Dunga.
The Prime Minister has lauded Lata Mangeshkar’s effort. He said that he was inspired by her affection. The song reflected her blessings, he added.
