After MeToo comes HeToo of apologies: Chetan Bhagat says HeToo did it, Rajat Gupta says HeToo was complicit

A woman has posted some screenshots of her chat with the writer in which he is trying to ‘woo’ her

The Hush Post: In a series of revelations which started after actress Tanushree Dutta leveled allegations of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar, many more women have started opening up and shaming the ones who have tried to sexually exploit them at a point in time.

Writer Chetan Bhagat is the latest to be at the receiving end of the #MeToo movement.  A woman has posted some screenshots of her chat with the writer in which he is trying to ‘woo’ her. The screenshots have gone viral on the social media.  The screenshots are of an old chat.

However, without losing anytime Chetan Bhagat posted a long apology on Facebook and accepted HeToo. Admitting that he indeed had such a conversation with the lady, he also tendered an apology to his wife Anusha Bhagat.

He wrote, “The screenshots, are of course real, and I am sorry if you felt they were wrong I hope you will accept my apology… Just in terms of more information, these screenshots are several years old, and I had met the person in question a couple of times. We hit it off really well as a friendship, and as I say in the screenshots, I did feel a strong connection with her. I did find her a good human being, sweet, cute and funny (as I also say in the screenshots)”.

Chetan said that he wrote the message after discussing it with his wife.

“Also, I also want to clarify that there never was nothing physical, no lewd pictures or words that were ever exchanged. I think I deleted the person’s number soon thereafter and we haven’t been in touch for years”, he went on to write.

Later, filmmaker Rajat Gupta also apologised and said HeToo did it but was extremely sorry. Gupta had asked a journalist on the telephone if she was as sexy as she sounded. He also asked her about her vital statistics.
