Punjabi Bollywood singer, Mika Singh has been banned and boycotted by All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) on Tuesday for performing at an event in Karachi, Pakistan.
The event was the wedding festivities of former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf’s close relative.
AICWA President, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said, “AICWA takes a stand of boycotting all his association with movie production houses, music companies and online music content providers”. He added that he will make sure that no one works with Mika Singh in India. If anyone does, he will face legal consequences in the court of law.
Further, the film body also put an unconditional ban on the singer and boycotted him from all the movies and music contracts with the entertainment companies.
AICWA President said that at a time when the tension between India and Pakistan is at its peak (because of the removal of Article 370), “Mika has put money above the nation.”
Meanwhile, the association also sought the intervention of Information and Broadcasting ministry in the matter.
Reportedly, Mika charged USD 150,000 (Rs 1 crore) for his performance at the wedding.
