While former India cricketer Kapil Dev’s daughter Amiya Dev is set to begin her film career in the Ranveer Singh starrer ’83, the movie on India’s World Cup victory in 1983, Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag Patil will play his father’s role in the movie.
Amiya is currently assisting director Kabir Khan on the sets of the film.
At present, the film is in its pre-production stage and Amiya is brushing her skills. A news daily has reported that since ’83 is being made on a big scale, the film’s team is utilising as many hands as required in every department.
23-year-old Amiya is making sure to contribute in every aspect of the filmmaking process.
As mentioned by Mumbai Mirror, Amiya is observing every minute detail from costume to fixing schedules.
Chirag Patil, the son of cricketer Sandip Patil, who plays the character of his father in ’83 has praised Amiya. He was quoted by the daily saying, “We met for the first time while working on the film. She’s from Delhi, I’, from Mumbai and she’s way younger than me. She’s part of our daily training sessions since she is on the direction team. So, she keeps us updated on any meetings we are supposed to attend. Whenever I’m in Kabir’s office, she’s there and is very involved in the process, be it planning the costumes or the schedule.”
Meanwhile, the actors in the film, who are playing the members of Indian world-cup winning cricket team, are being taken to a short trip to Dharamshala for 10 days. This is to bring a sense of togetherness and bonding among the actors and also to work on their training.
’83 shows the glorious story of India’s first cricket World Cup win under skipper Kapil Dev. Actor Ranveer Singh plays the lead while Saqib Salim, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Sahil Khattar, Hardy Sandhu and Tahir Raj Bhasin among others play the roles of other cricketers in the team. The film is set to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.
