Coronavirus scare: Two China-returned Indians quarantined in Mumbai

While China has stepped up efforts to tackle the deadly Coronavirus outbreak, the scare has travelled to neighboring India. Officials in Mumbai have kept two persons who returned from China under medical observation.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has created an isolation ward at its Kasturba hospital in Chinchpokali.

BMC has created the isolation ward for diagnosis and treatment of persons suspected to have the coronavirus infection.

BMC officials have kept the two persons, who returned from China, under observation for mild cough and exhibiting cold-related symptoms.

The BMC health officials have asked doctors at the Mumbai International Airport to send travellers returning from China to the isolation ward if they show any symptoms of the coronavirus.

BMC has asked all private doctors in the city to alert it if they observe symptoms of the coronavirus in anyone who has returned from China.

News 18 reported that hospitals in Mumbai have received detailed instructions from the Maharashtra government about the coronaviru.

LETHAL VIRUS

Notably, Coronaviruses primarily infect the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract of mammals and birds. They also cause a significant percentage of all common colds in human adults and children. In China, coronavirus has killed 26 people so far.
