Breaking his silence over ongoing Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul row, filmmaker Karan Johar has finally apologised. In a conversation with media, Karan felt sorry for the whole episode. He said, “I am just saying that perhaps things were said in a manner which crossed boundaries and I apologise because it was my platform from where it happened. I feel the boys have faced the price for it already.”
The 46-year-old filmmaker further added, “I have to say that I feel very responsible because it was my show. I invited them as guests and so the ramifications and repercussion of the show are my responsibility. I have had so many sleepless nights just wondering about how I can undo this damage, who is gonna listen to me? It’s now gone into a zone which is beyond my control.”
Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee with Karan faced criticism when the episode in which cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were invited generated negative publicity. Both cricketers have been suspended from the ODI series against Australia for their alleged offensive and insensitive remarks. In addition to this, the Supreme Court of India has set up a committee which will decide the fate of the cricketers.
After the criticism Hardik and KL Rahul apologised but Karan Johar remained silent. Admitting his accountability, Karan said, “I regret what has happened to them. And then, there was a talk about me actually enjoying the TRP. I don’t care about the TRPs.”
