Badhaai Ho story writer Jyoti Kapoor has slammed Filmfare Awards for dropping her name from the nominations. According to the sources, her name has been dropped due to a personal vendetta.
Earlier her name was included for the nominations. However, only a day after being nominated for best story at Filmfare Awards, writer Jyoti Kapoor was in for a shock.
While she was credited along with Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildyal for writing the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Badhaai Ho, her name was dropped from the list of nominees just yesterday.
Jyoti Kapoor has said she is unable to understand what prompted the award organisers to drop her name, while Srivastava and Ghildial remained on the list: “My name was included in the nominees’ list on Wednesday morning until it magically disappeared. I wrote to [the producers] Priti Shahani [president, Junglee Pictures], and Vineet Jain [MD, Times Group] requesting them to reinstate my name. But clearly, nothing has been done about it.
Jyoti Kapoor is a former journalist who turned to film writing about 15 years ago. She has many other works to her credit including Dawat-e-Ishq.
Some time ago, she was locked in a legal battle with producer-director Kunal Kohli over the film ‘Phir Se’ which was a direct lift from Kapoor’s script ‘RSVP.’
Ultimately Kohli had to cough up Rs 25 lakh to Kapoor after losing the case of copyright violation in the Supreme Court.
