The arrest of Jammu & Kashmir DSP Davinder Singh for terror charges has brought back the spotlight on Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Bollywood actress Soni Razdan has stirred up the hornet’s nest with her latest comments on the issue. Soni Razdan is the mother of Alia Bhatt and director Mukesh Bhatt’s wife.

Soni Razdan courted controversy after she demanded a probe into Afzal Guru’s hanging. She also claimed that the Parliament attack convict was used as a scapegoat.

Razdan wrote on Twitter, “This is a travesty of justice. Who is going to bring back a man from the dead if he is innocent. This is why the death penalty is not to be used lightly. And this is why there also needs to be a solid enquiry into why Afzal Guru was made the scapegoat.”

Soni Razdan, who was also seen in Raazi, asked why no one looked into Guru’s allegations that he was tortured by Davinder Singh.

Afzal Guru was hanged in February 2013.

Razdan was referring to a news story which detailed Guru’s letter to his lawyer in the early 2000s.
