The Hush Post:  A law student from Pune Shruti V. Shrikhande has topped the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exams-2017 among girls. An alumna of the Army Public School, Pune, Shruti is the daughter of an Army officer, Brigader Vinod Shrikhande, and Ujjwala, and is studying law at the ILS Law College in the city. Speaking to the media, Shruti said: “It was my dream to join the armed forces so I took up the CDS and cleared it.” The results were announced by the Union Public Service Commission on Thursday. She is now all set to join the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, for the course commencing in April.
The CDS exam was held for the OTA’s 107th Short Service Commission for Men (non-technical) course and the 21st Short Service Commission for Women (non-technical) in which 232 candidates, including 51 women, from all over India were declared successful. Talking of his daughter’s success, Brig Shrikhande said coming from an Army family his daughter was well aware of the traditions and work culture in the armed forces.
