A man bit his mother-in-laws nose and his father slashed her ear as a dispute over dowry took an ugly turn in Uttar Pradesh’s Nakatia area on Sunday. The injured woman was rushed to the district hospital from where the doctors referred her to Delhi for surgery.
Chand Bi had married Mohammed Ashfaq from Bareilly a year back. Chands Bi’s father Gantha Rehman gave a dowry worth Rs. 10 lakh to his daughter upon marriage. Rehman is a fourth-class employee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
However, Ashfaq, who is a property dealer, started demanding more dowry. He and his parents started pressurizing Chand Bi for an extra 5 lakh rupees. The family even thrashed Chand Bi for refusing to their demand.
When Chand Bi’s father Gantha Rehman came to know about it, he rushed to her home with wife Gulshan. However, an argument took place between both the families. Suddenly, Ashfaq and his father Izhaar started thrashing Rehman and Gulshan.
In the melee, Ashfaq bit Gulshan’s nose, while Izhaar slit her ear with a knife. The father-son duo escaped the scene thereafter, leaving Gulshan unconscious.
The police have registered an FIR against Ashfaq, his father and three four others at Bareilly Cantonment police station.
