Minutes after taking off, Indian Navy’s unmanned aerial vehicle crashes in Porbandar

The drone had taken-off from the Porbandar Naval base and crashed within minutes in an open ground

The Hush Post: Just minutes after taking from from Porbandar base of the Indian Navy, a drone of the Navy crashed in Porbandar. Luckily no loss or life or injury or damage was reported on the ground.

According to police sources, the drone, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), had crashed in an open ground of an ice factory located behind the Udyognagar police station in the town.

“The UAV crashed in an open ground in Udyognagar area of the town. The drone caught fire after crashing and police called fire fighters. However, there was no injury or damage to property on the ground as the drone crashed in the open ground where nobody was around,” The Indian Express quoted police superintendent of Porbandar district, Shobha Bhutda as having said.

The police said the fire fighters immediately doused the blaze. The forensic experts too reached the spot. The police said the Indian Navy had started clearing debris of the crashed drone for investigation.

Sources confirmed the UAV indeed belonged to the Indian Navy. “Yes, the UAV belonged to the Navy. It had taken off at 9:30 am for routine mission. However, it crashed within a few minutes in flight. An inquiry has been initiated to know the reason of the accident,” The Indian Express quoted a source as saying.
