The Hush Post: Congress president Rahul Gandhi quite categorically said about yesterday’s incident involving Dalhousie MLA Asha Kumari that it was unfortunate.
Lambasting Asha Kumari in a well-mannered language, he said, “Ashaji what happened was very wrong. It is not the Congress culture to slap someone. Our party believes in ahimsa and love.” However, Asha Kumari escaped the kind of treatment meted out to Manishankar Aiyar and was not suspended from the party.
According to a report published in the Tribune quoting SP Soumya, an FIR has been registered against Asha under IPC sections 353 and 332 (assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). According to experts, a person can be immediately arrested if a case is registered under 332 of the IPC.
On Friday, AICC secretary and Dalhousie MLA Asha Kumari had a major showdown with a woman cop at a function where Congress president Rahul Gandhi was to review the recent election result here on Friday. Just as the woman constable on duty outside the state Congress Bhawan tried to stop Asha, the Congress legislator got agitated and slapped the cop. The cop in return slapped her back.
It was on the intervention of others, including Solan MLA and former minister Col Dhani Ram Shandil that the situation was prevented from turning uglier. The Congress MLA later tendered an apology for the incident, however, not before speaking utter lies. She said,“The lady constable misbehaved, abused me and almost beat me, but I should not have lost my calm. I am sorry for the incident”. However, the woman constable has filed a complaint against the Congress legislator.
