Chandigarh, The Hush Post: Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) MLAs Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjeet Singh Bains on Monday released an audio clip claiming it to be a conversation about payment of Rs 35 lakh bribe to a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In a press conference at Chandigarh, they alleged that the payment was made for action against Sukhpal Khaira, AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, in a drug smuggling case. The purported audio conversation is allegedly between Amit Chaudhary, Additional Advocate General (AAG) during the Akali Dal rule, and TK Goyal, former PCS officer who was recently dismissed on corruption charges. Khaira has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against his recent summoning by a Fazilka court that wanted him to face trial as an additional accused in a 2015 drug smuggling case. On November 17, the High Court had dismissed Khaira’s petition challenging the summoning and asked Khaira to approach the trial court for anticipatory bail. The Bains brothers demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Khaira said, “We have faith in judiciary, but they too have failed us. We consider judges like God, but it’s sad if justice is being compromised”.
