The Hush Post: The Chandigarh Police has nabbed the main accused in the gang-rape case which took place one week ago in Sector 53. He was arrested from Sector 49. He was driving an auto bearing a temporary registration number CH-78T-2740, which was used in the crime. The police had earlier rounded up three suspects, out of whom the victim has identified one. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Irfan, at present residing in Zirakpur. However, he hails from Uttar Pradesh. He is the same person, whose footage was visible in the CCTV recovered from the filing station during the time of investigation and subsequently went viral. Irfan is a father of two daughters. The accused has also revealed names of two more accomplices – Garib, 22, from Faizabad and Poppu, 23, from Sultanpur — both in Uttar Pradesh. The police had also rounded up two suspects after recovering the mobile phone of the victim, which finally led to the accused. The 22-year-old victim from Dehradun was allegedly gang-raped in the city about a week ago. The victim had accused that three persons had raped her on her way to Mohali where she lived as a paying guest. The victim was recovered from a jungle near Sector 53 in Chandigarh. She was unconscious and was admitted to Government Multi-Super Speciality Hospital, Sector 16 in Chandigarh.
