The Hush Post, Chandigarh: A middle-aged man identified as Rajiv Gulati set himself on fire in Sector 44-C of Chandigarh here today. According to the information, Rajiv used to run a tavern in the premises of a liquor vend. The owner of the liquor vend in the morning confronted Rajiiv and asked him to vacate the premises. Sources say, the owner had already rented out the premises from where Rajiv was running a tavern to someone else for Rs. 12,000. Rajiv was paying Rs. 10,000 for the same. This led into an ugly spat as a result sometime later Rajiv in a fit of emotion sprinkled petrol on himself and set himself aflame. The police was informed about the incident at around 12:45 pm. On arrival, they immediately took Rajiv to the hospital where his condition is stated to be critical. The doctors, meanwhile, have said that he is not in a position to give any statement. He lives in Sector 24 with his wife and son.
