The Hush Post: A chargesheet has been filed against godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s daughter and close aide Honeypreet Insan and other accused in the case of violence and rioting, the day the godman was convicted in cases pertaining to rape of two sadhvis. The violence took place in Panchkula and other parts of Haryana on August 25. Haryana witnessed rioting and violence, particularly in Panchkula but also in Sirsa and some parts of Punjab.
The chargesheet was filed by the Special Investigation Team of Haryana police before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Panchkula.
Honeypreet and many other followers of the dera were booked by police on charges of sedition, inciting violence and criminal conspiracy. Honeypreet, aka Priyanka Taneja, was arrested on October 3. For most of the days in between the violence and the arrest she was missing.
She is currently lodged in Central Jail, Ambala. The SIT took Honeypreet to various locations in Haryana to establish evidence of her involvement in the violence. A court in Panchkula had in September issued arrest warrants against top Dera functionaries — Honeypreet, Aditya Insan and Pawan Insan. All three were booked by the Haryana police on charges of sedition and for alleged involvement in a conspiracy to help the Dera chief escape.
Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years. His conviction in the rape cases led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving more than 30 people dead and over 250 injured.
