Probably in a first diplomatic win in decades CBI arrests Dawood Ibrahim aide Farooq Takla from Dubai and has been brought back to Mumbai
The Hush Post: Dawood Ibrahim aide, Farooq Takla has been deported from Dubai and has arrived in Mumbai accompanied by the CBI team this morning. He had fled India days after the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai. He will be produced in a Mumbai TADA court today.
It is being seen as a major diplomatic win for India. Takla was arrested by the CBI officials in Dubai. As per the reports, Takla and the CBI officials accompanying him came on board Air India flight AI 996. Takla, who is a manager of most of Dawood’s business syndicate in Dubai, is a wanted in many cases, including extortion, abduction and several killings. Shortly, Takla will be made to appear in a special TADA court.
Takla has charges of conspiracy against him pertaining to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. Sources say, the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval was a pivotal man behind Takla’s deportation. There was a red corner notice on him since 1995 issued by Interpol at the request of India. In the meanwhile, the government is also trying to expedite the bringing back of Dawood Ibrahim though, it seems a long haul right now, the BJP government is giving evidence to Pakistan about his location being somewhere in Karachi.
Well-known criminal lawyer Shyam Keswani had recently said fugitive mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar was keen to return and had also spoken to Ram Jethmalani. But his terms were not accepted by the government. Keswani said his only condition was that he should be lodged in Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai.
