The Hush Post: Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s men — a gang of a 40 of them — have been booked in a case of extortion. The FIR also names a lawyer of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, SK Garg Narwana and others some of whom were also booked for violence on August 25, 2017. The case relates to 12.6 acres of land in lieu of which Ram Rahim’s men blackmailed and extorted Rs 40 lakh and also a flat from a builder in Haryana. This flat has been registered in the name of the Dera Sacha Sauda. Baba’s men threatened the builder and asked him to transfer land worth Rs 80 crore as well.
Ajay Vir Sehgal, the builder who is a victim in the middle of this, spoke to the Hush Post and said: “I received threats mostly when the Dera chief was out. We had nothing to fall back on and felt intimidated. It was only after the Panchkula violence and subsequent imprisonment of the Dera chief and others, could we come out in the open.” The FIR has been registered and the police inquiry is on into the matter though no arrests have been made so far.
HARYANA POLICE FAILS TO PROVE SEDITION AGAINST DERA MEN
Meanwhile, Haryana Police SIT has failed to produce evidence of sedition and attempt to murder cases registered against 53 Dera followers. A Panchkula court, while hearing the case, asked Haryana Police to drop charges of sedition and attempt to murder levelled against Dera followers, which included Dera spokesperson Surender Dhiman and Chamkaur Singh. However, Rabindra Dhull, the Punjab and Haryana High Court advocate, who had earlier moved a Public Interest Litigation about the gathering of Dera supporters in Panchkula, has said that the police left loopholes so that the case against Dera supporters could fall flat.
