New Delhi: For fake Facebook account holders with Shahrukh Khan’s or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s as display pictures there could be a major blow. The Facebook has sought the Government of India’s help to link Aadhar Cards compulsorily with the people’s Facebook account in India. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is in the process of finalising the nitty gritties. The move comes in after it was found that a lot of fake accounts have been created. However, India happens to be the only country providing this facility to the Facebook.
Earlier this year, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said in California, “I am very happy that Government of India took this step. This will eradicate the fake Facebook profiles in India. Users should not worry about their private information that they will upload on Facebook. Your information is safe with us. We will not share it with anyone except the advertisers.
While, there are a lot of concerns about the misuse of Adhar Card, particularly if they are openly seen on FB accounts, experts say, the Adhar Card details cannot be misused since the misuse is only possible if accompanied by a biometric imprint. Meanwhile, Facebook has announced that people can get their Aadhar verified account from special camps which will be organised in various Indian cities in coming months.
