The Hush Post: A class 2 student at a government primary school in Gurugram was allegedly forced to clean toilets by the school teachers. Seven-year-old Meena was made to clean toilets at Garhi-Harsaru Primary Government School on Thursday. This was confirmed by the father of the child.
The District Primary Education Officer, Prem Lata said that an inquiry has been marked into the incident. It is learnt that that the child was just asked to throw some thrown in the washroom and wasn’t asked to clean the toilets. She said that still the matter will be investigated.
The principal, Veena Sharma, has denied the allegations. As per the Times of India report, the principal said: “I am the head of this school, how can I ask the students to clean the washrooms. This is not ethically right. Nothing like this has happened.”
However, truth came to light when another teacher divulged that, after the morning assembly, a few children were asked to flush water in the loo since there was foul smell. The teacher said this was done in order to inculcate hygiene among students.
The school has more than 250 students and eight teachers, two of them being male. Since there is no permanent sweeper the kids have to sometimes pitch in by cleaning toilets.
